ELL Teacher Pros April 2011 Newsletter
How many of you have found videos on YouTube which fully
support your lesson only to discover that you can’t show them at your school
site due to district policy? The
procedure in the past to circumvent this was to download the video to your
laptop at home and then play it from your computer (not the internet) at school
(this was just one successful workaround).
Now, thanks to cloud computing and a creative website
developer, VUSAFE, you will not
only be able to use your YOUTUBE videos in class, but also view videos other
teachers have saved to the site. If you
like another teacher’s video, you can access it. This is a free virtual sharing online video
library for all grade levels and content areas.
As the classroom teacher, you can also provide your students with
passwords to view your selected videos at home as well. With all the questionable ads and off color
comments removed, parents have nothing to be concerned about in the way of
inappropriate materials.
How safe is this site?
Only educators can use it so that alone should ease any parental
concerns. To open an account, teachers
must use their school email addresses.
This ensures that anyone posting is a teacher—no outsiders.
